TGCA Studbook Approvals The TGCA Studbook Approvals are modeled after the ICS (Irish Cob Society) Studbook Approvals, an internationally recognized system of approving Gypsy Cobs as suitable breeding stock. Horses are separated into 1st Premium (Premium HB1), 2nd Premium (Premium HB2) and 3rd Premium (Base Premium) categories. 1st and 2nd Premium horses are recommended breeding animals, while 3rd Premium horses are approved. All horses approved during TGCA Approvals must be 100% Gypsy Cob (Irish Cob/Irish Tinker/Gypsy Vanner). No partbred horses, or horses not showing adequate Cob features, will be accepted. Gypsy Cobs must be 3 years or older to be inspected for approval, and must be either mares or stallions (no geldings). Furthermore, any horse of 3 years or older who twice in a different calendar year achieves a 1st Premium rating will be awarded the additional accolade of "STAR". Any Gypsy Cob with at least three offspring who have achieved a 1st Premium ratings as adults will be obtain the "preference" title to be added to their name.
